Offshore Worker Dies in Apache Oil Platform Accident

Government investigators are looking into the February 17 death of an offshore worker from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

Joseph Bruno died while working on an Apache offshore natural gas production platform south of Lake Charles. He was a fire watcher for H.I.S. Fire and Safety Company. The company had been hired to do maintenance on the Apache Corporation platform.

Bruno was on a swing rope going from a vessel to Platform WC 575A when he fell into the Gulf of Mexico. He was wearing a flotation device and was alive when his co- workers pulled him from the water alive. However, after the rescue he became unresponsive and died while on the platform.

The accident is under investigation by Apache Corporation and by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE).

The maritime injury attorneys at The Young Firm in New Orleans offer our condolences to the family of Joseph Bruno.
