What is a discogram after a maritime injury? How does a discogram work and what will a discogram show?
What is a discogram? A lot of our injured maritime clients are recommended to undergo a discogram before any type of surgery.
A discogram is a procedure in which a doctor actually injects a small fluid into the person’s lower back or neck in the discs in their neck or back and watch with a screen to see if that fluid leaks out of the disc. It’s an easy way to determine if the person has an injured disc in their neck or their back because if the disc is healthy it’s actually going to contain that fluid. If the disc is injured or ripped or torn that fluid is going to leak out and the doctor can see objective evidence that the person’s disc has a tear or a rip in it. That’s a very easy way to prove that you’ve suffered a serious injury while working offshore.
