Can you select your own doctor to provide cure? It is more important than you think.

When you're receiving maintenance and cure benefits, it's very, very important that you select your own choice of treating doctor for you. Under Cure Law, your company does have to legally pay for a doctor that you select, not your company. Now, I want to talk for a second about why this is so important.

Under Maintenance and Cure Law, your company only has to pay you maintenance cure until you reach maximum improvement or basically until a doctor releases you from care. When a company selects a company doctor for you, very often they will release you from their care quickly. You then have trouble getting maintenance and cure benefits based upon that company doctor's report. It's very important from the beginning that you select your own choice of treating physician that you trust and that you're comfortable with.
