Should you go to an FCE before you return to work after maritime injury? What is your company picks the FCE provider for you?

Should you go to an FCE after your maritime injury accident?

A lot of times after you suffer a maritime injury the doctor will say that you need to go to an FCE to determine what you’re capable of going back to doing. An FCE is a Functional Capacity Evaluation. It’s not necessarily a bad thing to go to this type of test but you do need to trust the facility that’s going to be giving you the test. A lot of times companies will choose the location that does the FCE for you and a lot of times the FCE therapist or the person administering the test to you may not be fully honest about the type of restrictions and the type of problems that you’re having. So it’s not necessarily a bad thing but you do want to trust the facility that’s giving you the FCE.

Call if you have any questions about your rights, choices or options under maritime law or under the Jones Act.
