Wooden Boat Festival Brings Educational Fun to Louisiana

From October 15-16, the Wooden Boat Festival will take place in Madisonville, Louisiana, at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum. This is a great opportunity for maritime workers to take a break and bring their friends and family to the historic site and soak up maritime history.

The festival will feature hundreds of wooden boats along the Tchefuncte River for visitors to take pleasure in and learn about the history and culture of maritime.

Take your children to the play area to get some energy out, and groove to the music while you snack on scrumptious food. Get your hands dirty with crafts, enter contests to win prizes and get lost in the beautiful artwork. Don't forget to watch the Quick n' Dirty boat parade!

Get the chance to walk through exhibits that explore life out in the water, learn how boats are made and how they have changed over time, take a hands-on field trip, see a lighthouse restoration and enjoy the scenic view of the Tchefuncte River.

It's a great adventure for everyone to enjoy but especially for maritime workers. This is a fun way to take advantage of your time off from work and spend it with your family not only to have a great time, but also to show them what the industry you work in is all about.
