Violations of BOEMRE Safety Inspections

Periodic safety inspections are part of BOEMRE's measures to provide a safe working environment for offshore oil rig workers. These onsite inspections ensure that oil rig operators have safety equipment installed to prevent explosions and other accidents.

These inspections are entered into the rig's record, and any instances of noncompliance are answered with a citation of safety violations. While the citation is merely a fine, it's also a red flag on the safety compliance record. If you're later injured in a serious accident on that rig, and it's known that there were prior safety violations that were never remedied, this can be a critical piece of evidence in your claim.

Your employer needs to correct all safety violations found by the BOEMRE inspector as soon as possible to avoid serious injury in an oil rig explosion accident. Many oil rig injury cases have been settled because it was found that the oil rig safety violations from past inspections weren't resolved in time to prevent the accident.

If you're injured in a Jones Act oil spill or other offshore rig accident, you deserve compensation for your injuries. You will need to prove that violations of safety rules and negligence of worker safety led to the accident and injury, and that's best accomplished with the help of a New Orleans Jones Act attorney.
