Take Some Shore Leave for the 5th Annual New Orleans Seafood Festival

September 1, 2011 - New Orleans, La. - If you have some shore leave this September, you may want to indulge in the bounty of the bayou!

From September 9 to September 11, the 5th Annual New Orleans Seafood Festival will be taking place in Downtown New Orleans at Lafayette Square across from Gallier Hall. Maritime workers in the Gulf of Mexico are practically surrounded by seafood while at work, but rarely do you get to taste it prepared by expert chefs!

The festival will exhibit more than just delicious delicacies from the seas - live music, celebrity chef demonstrations and local artist booths will also be happening at the venue. The proceeds collected will go to the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation, which has been helping promote culinary education and arts as well as supporting the health and welfare of Louisiana's children.

Of course, the focus of the festival is the FOOD! Local restaurants will serve up Louisiana standards like poboys, crawfish, gulf shrimp, red beans & rice, and gumbo. There are also plenty of more unique menu items, like gator sliders, crawfish sausage, and even sweet offerings like mango sorbet and bread pudding.

If your mouth isn't watering yet, take a day or two onshore and check out the sights, sounds and smells of New Orleans' awesome seafood festival!
