Seamen Beware of Dangers of Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

With peak hurricane season under way, more dangerous rip tides and marine hazards will be present. Currently, Tropical Storm Maria is near the east coast of the U.S., and more storms are expected to develop. If you're a seamen out on the water working in these types of conditions where a severe injury or even death can occur, know that a maritime attorney from the New Orleans Young Law Firm can help.

Although it's predicated that Tropical Storm Maria won't come close to the mainland of the U.S., it's still highly advised that you be careful while out in the water. There most likely will be strong winds and rip tides near the ocean shores, which means if you're a seaman working on a vessel or oil platforms, you may be in harm's way.

You and your employer should take precautious
during these kinds of heavy storms and make sure your safety comes first. During these times, it's imperative that all safety regulations under maritime law and the Jones Act Law are heeded.

Serious injuries can occur, especially for seamen at work, and if your maritime accident or injuries were caused by negligence, you may be eligible to pursue compensation. Wherever you're located while at work on navigable waters, know that a maritime attorney at the New Orleans Young Law Firm is capable of guiding you to a fair and full settlement.
