Punitive damages under maintenance and cure law....make your company pay penalties!

Under maintenance and cure law you are entitled to seek punitive damages from your company if your company arbitrarily or intentionally refuses to pay maintenance and cure benefits to you. A lot of our clients will ask, "Can I get punitive damages if my company intentionally refuses to pay maintenance and cure to me?" Yes. You as a seaman are definitely entitled to seek punitive damages from your company if they arbitrarily or intentionally deny you maintenance and cure benefits. Call us if you have any questions. The law is very clear on this issue. It's important that you understand your choices, your rights and your options.
