Helpful but not Needed: Filing Offshore Accident Report in New Orleans

Filing a claim under the Jones Act Law is still possible even if you didn't file an accident report at the time of your injury. Law firms in New Orleans can help you with the paperwork for any claim or report.

It's still in your best interest to file a written accident report with your employer and you should attempt to do so as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, many employers attempt to avoid this documentation by telling you to delay the report until you're recovered. Sometimes this results in missing your window of opportunity to file the report as evidence in your offshore injury claim.

This isn't the end of the line for your claim! Many Jones Act Law claims have been successfully settled by our law firm in New Orleans without an accident report. It takes a bit more work on our side, but as long as you have other evidence to prove that your injury occurred because of negligence while you were working, we can help.

You'll want to document everything possible about your offshore explosion or other maritime accident and injuries. The more evidence you have to support your claim that another party's negligence caused the accident and your injuries, the more integrity your claim will have.

While accident reports are beneficial to your injury claim, recorded statements may not be. You should be careful to keep discussions about your accident between yourself and your attorney and learn what's necessary to file your claim.
