Employer Negligence Can Cause a Diving Accident in Louisville

If you've been injured while diving in the course of your maritime-related employment, you may qualify for Jones Act Workers' Compensation to defray the lost wages, medical expenses, and pain and suffering you sustained as a result of your diving accident.

Diving companies are required to follow certain safety procedures. Typically, a diving company can be held liable for injuries from a diving accident if it's shown that the company didn't meet the minimum requirements of these procedures, was negligent in its conduct, or failed to maintain equipment in a way that somehow contributed to the accident that caused the injuries.

Causes of Diving Accidents in Louisville

In a number of cases, diving companies may breach their duty to safety protocol for convenience or additional profit margins by:

  • Using improper decompression tables or experimental tables;
  • Bringing divers up too quickly;
  • Failing to provide adequate medical treatment or maintaining proper medical equipment;
  • Insufficient manpower or staffing;
  • Inadequate training;
  • Unsafe operation; and
  • Violation of Coast Guard safety procedures or failing to maintain adequate safety policies internally.

These are just a few of the examples of negligence that can give rise to a diving accident. Maritime accidents can entail serious injuries and tragic repercussions for the injured seaman or diver, so speak with a Jones Act workers compensation lawyer who can answer questions specific to your injury and help you determine the best course of action.
